The idea of Holmlia cultural café didn't start with a business plan, it started with a need. A need for a meeting place in a disadvantaged neighborhood in Oslo. A place in Holmlia where the population could feel belonging, safety and community. A place where young people could get their very first job, and a chance to succeed. Behind the initiative stands Nayat, a mother of five who came to Norway without language or network. She learned Norwegian as an adult, completed a baker's apprenticeship and chose to use her own experiences to build something for others. In 2019, the doors to Holmlia cultural café opened, and since then dozens of young people have found jobs and training with us as a springboard into working life.
